This research was undertaken in MTB to understand the household food security conditions, that is, food adequacy and availability as well as its accessibility, and household’s mechanisms in order to meet their food requirement. This research aims to (1)know the situation of each element forming the household food security, (2) examine determinants of the food security and, (3) observe what category variations of the food security included in the household levels. Quantitative and qualitative methods were used in data collection. Crosstab analyses were used to address objectives 1 and 3, while 2nd objective was answered using chi-squares analysis and regression models of binary logistic. The findings suggest that (1) 92% households were within sufficient category, and the remaining 8% households insufficient category; While around 31% households had food stability, 69% households were on food instability; 37% the selected households of had good accessibility category and 63% were in poor accessibility to the food; More than 50% were intended to fulfill the required consumption; (2) the household food security was mainly dependent upon local inhabitant’s demography, social, economic, and culture. These four factors simultaneously contributed to the food security building variable. However, the educational variables, assets belonging to the households, and their culture, had significant affects on food security, and (3) the food security condition of the five selected villages were in the tragic situations because 25% selected household were considered as insufficient household, 73% households in the food minus sufficiency and, only 2% households had food security. This implies that all of the food security could not be separated from local inhabitant’s social environment.
